Seeking an understanding of the relationship between body and spirit, and the relationship between individual and community, is a deep and persistent inquiry for me. In service I offer my perspective, the moving collective of my own experiments in loving, moving, living and learning. I offer my most viable field reports on the experiments and the experiences of practicing the cultivation of spiritual balance. I teach what I want to learn. What I want to learn is how to distinguish and understand a practical spiritual practice that will sustain and maintain personal health and well being as well as a healthy community to practice in.
My practice has led me down the road of many models aimed at learning to maintain an awareness of the breath. Ultimately my goal in developing spiritually is to surrender the need to have to go somewhere in particular to maintain this awareness. My goal is to never hold myself away from the security of an authentic, practical spiritual practice. My goal is to embody a spiritual practice that can keep me awake to the reality that is before me and my authentic response to It. My goal is to allow the gap to close between what I do to be essentially happy, and what I generally do. Of course this goal insists on a searing inventory of what I believe about happiness.
A short list of models and practices I have engaged to tend to my intention to wake up and live in the truth, includes many models for learning to practice presence, such as improvisational dance forms, cycling-indoor and out of doors, hiking, roller blading, sailing, writing practices, all manner of expressive arts, water release therapy, various somatic psychotherapies, Gyrotonic, and Tango, to name a few. All of these forms collect and connect in me, transforming and shifting daily. My practice is alive and cannot be exactly named by the form. It can only be named by the intention to be still and know, to be, and to be in service of the One Love that is the essence of all, that is the essence of all that we share. It is not a form in particular that I am following. It is not any particular form I am teaching. I use form to practice and gain greater skill in following the essence of my free will. I am using form to practice and gain greater skill and more consistency in reflecting a will free of fear through my words and my actions. This is what I am studying. This is what I wish to learn. This is what I am teaching.
